Lifeline Telephone support provides cell phones and cell service for low income families. Assistance can go to either a home phone or wireless bill. In order to get Lifeline assistance, individuals must apply through the cellular provider. Only one discount allowed per household.
Hours
7 days a week, from 9am - 9pm ET
Required Documents
Proof of income or proof of participation in a qualifying program.
Eligibility
Income below 135% of poverty or participating in Medicaid, food stamps, SSI, disabled benefits, Section 8, LIHEAP, TANF or free school lunch program.
Fees
Many programs offer free phones and limited talk and text. Most also offer the opportunity to upgrade talk, text and data for a discounted monthly rate.
